Minutes of the IAROR Business Meeting April 6th, 2017 RailLille 2017

1. State of membership and presence

The total number of IAROR members on April 1st, 2017 consisted of 368 with the majority being from Europe followed from ASIA. A total of 88 IAROR members were present at the Business Meeting.

2. Discussion and statement of the rules of IAROR

The draft rules about the Board, President and Vice President, as well as the Process to select the Young Railway Operations Research Award and the Best Papers proposed by the Board members (attached) were approved after a short discussion by the IAROR members.

3. Election of new IAROR Board members

The following new members for the IAROR Board were elected:

  • Anders Petersen (University of Linköping/Sweden)
  • Marcus Bohlin (Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm/Sweden)
  • Lingyun Meng (Beijing Jiaotong University/China).

4. Organization of the 8th International Conference on Railway Operations Modelling and Analysis

Two applications for the organization of the next International Conference on Railway Operations Modelling and Analysis were presented by IAROR delegations from Linköping/Sweden and Beijing/China. After a short discussion the IAROR members voted in favour of the 8th International Conference on Railway Operations Modelling and Analysis to be organized in Linköping 2019. The detailed dates of the conference will be agreed upon by the Local Organization Committee with the IAROR Board members and be communicated as early as possible.

5. Miscellaneous

The Vice President emphasized the high quality of the majority of the papers accepted for RailLille 2017 and invited those authors, whose papers received good comments by the reviewers, to submit their paper after revision to the Journal of Rail Transport Planning and Management (JRTPM). The goal is to increase the output of high quality papers published quarterly in JRTPM to more than a total of 30 papers per year in order to get formally registered in the Web of Science through the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) of Thomson Reuters.
