Process for Selecting the Young Research Award

  1. Young Research Award (YRA)
    • The winner of YRA is decided during the conference and the award is given at the closing session of the conference.
  2. Eligibility
    • A candidate of YRA must not be older than 35 years on the first day of the conference.
    • A candidate has to present a paper at the IAROR conference.
    • A candidate must be the first author of the paper.
    • A candidate must register for the conference before the conference.
  3. Information Provided
    • A list of the candidates is sent by the organizing committee to the voters before the conference.
    • This list contains: Name of the candidate together with the names of co-authors, Title of the paper, Review results on the full papers.
    • For the new members of the board (meaning board members who are selected during the conference), this list is given during the conference.
  4. Process
    • The YRA is decided by voting.
    • The members of the Board of IAROR present at the conference, the organizing committee of the conference and the members of the scientific advisory committee have a right to vote.
    • Each of them has three votes differentiated by order: 1st vote 3 pts, 2nd vote 2 pts, 3rd vote 1 pt.
    • A voter cannot vote on a paper to which he/she is a co-author.
    • Voting is (in principle) done on a day of the conference.
  5. Selection of the Winner
    • The winner of the YRA is determined on the basis of the highest number of the voting points.
    • In case two or more candidates got the same number of voting points, the YRA is shared among them.

Process for Selecting the Best Papers

  1. Number of the Best Papers.
    • We (normally) select 10 Best Papers.
    • The results are shown on the web page of IAROR after the conference.
  2. Eligibility
    • Only papers presented at the conference are eligible as the best paper.
  3. Information Provided
    • The organizing committee selects candidates for the best papers in common with the recommendations of the SAC members based on the review results of the full paper. In principle, top thirty papers are selected as candidates.
    • A list of the candidates is sent by the organizing committee to the voters before the conference. The list contains:
    • Name of the candidate together with the names of co-authors
    • Title of the paper
    • Review results on the full paper.
    • For the new members of the board (meaning board members who are selected during the conference), this list is given during the conference.
  4. Process
    • The best papers are selected by e-mail voting.
    • The members of the Board of IAROR present at the conference, the organizing committee of the conference and the members of the scientific advisory committee have a right to vote.
    • Each of them has at most five votes differentiated by order: 1st vote 5 pts, 2nd vote 4 pts, 3rd vote 3 pt, 4th vote 2 pt, 5th vote 1 pt.
    • A voter cannot vote on a paper to which he/she is a co-author.
    • Voting is done ultimately four weeks after the end of the conference.
    • Each voter sends an e-mail of voting to the chairman of the organizing committee.
  5. Selection of the Best Paper
    • The ranking of the Best Papers is determined on the basis of the highest number of the voting points.
